GREG'S PLACE

Non Tut, Two

I don't know how the Masters did it, but if I do a woman, who's going to be wearing something clingy, I'll paint the whole nude, and then the clothes. It seems right, somehow. When I did this, I think it would've been my first classic, I wasn't happy with it, so never
completed it.

Here's a sorta step by step, of one from a while back.

This is from Girl with the Pearl Earring, with Scarlett Johanson, a beauty that took my breath away, the same as her's was when she looked upon his painting. Because of the film and her, I was drawn to do a painting of her face. Trouble is, one wasn't enough, so I started on about four of them, which considering how perfect I wanted them to be, proved to be too much for my old bones to finish. Altho I did these in '04 or somewhere back then, I don't really consider any of them done. Too bad, as I consider the Pearl Earring series, one of my best ever. Now I don't paint any more because of illness. I try but can't get much done at a sitting, so mostly I've been retouching photos, cause it's much easier, and still keeps my hands and eyes busy, always hoping that it will come back to me, cause after waiting most of my entire life to get down to some good art, now it seems it has been taken from me, thru fate.

This is as far as I got on this, my best one of the group, and altho it once was easy, I now find it difficult to work with layers, cause I forget

the order of things. Stupid, I know, as I used to do 20 or more layers, but now 4 confuses me. I've restarted working on this one recently, but I can only

manage a few minutes a week, where I used to go six hours in a sitting.

This was an experiment with a spatula in PSP 9. Most of the time I like PSP 8, and can do most anything I ever want to do in that app.

I started out with Photoshop, as my first program, (2.5) I think, but along the way discoverd PSP and it was so much friendlier, I never

looked back. I hear it's gone to hell in recent years, but anyone who wants to do graphics, at any level, except professional in a company, can

do just fine with PSP. I've done digital art for over 10 yrs and it's good enough for me.
